Ivonete Gonçalves de Souza activist and researcher will talk about the consequences of the eucalyptus industry in Brazil. Rodrigo Santana from the Pataxó people will tell his stories about the invasion of their territories from the eucalyptus plantation and Ingrid Fadnes freelance journalist will introduce the topic with a short film about eukalyptus.
The eucalyptus plantations in Brazil has consequences like draught, reduction in biodiversity, fires and pollution of the local drinking water. The norwegian oil fund invest 3,5 billions in three of the biggest eucalyptus companies in Brazil. In other words Norway gains money from investing in companies that are accused of violating the rights of local people.
