How does being a trans woman differ across cultures? In Latin-America, and especially in Brazil many trans people identify themselves as travesti, using the term as a form of self-empowerment. The term travesti is conceptualized differently than in western countries. Our guest, a trans activist from Norway, and one from Latin-America (pending), will share their perspectives on being a trans and talk about how trans identity themselves and the trans movement diverges across continents. The panel talk will be led by LAG activist and board member in LAG Blindern Stian Blomberg Møller, which is currently writing a bachelor about trans identities in Brazil, and has previously written an article on the topic.
